Images of the Nike Air Griffey Max 1 scheduled to release as a retro this coming April.
This was officially the first Griffey model baring his name and I went craaazy when these dropped... Finally, a pure baseball player with his own kicks... Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders both had sneakers before Jr. but they were two-sport athletes... Definitely one of the dopest kicks released in the 90's... It's funny how things change over time... I can't think of one baseball player relevant enough today to have a signature off-field shoe... As the number of black players has dwindled in the past decade, so has the relevance and appeal of MLB players... Hopefully rising stars such as Ryan Howard, Matt Kemp and (uh.... uh... damn, cant think of any...) can help to bring back the flair and swag to the game... We'll see... Until then, we'll just keep rockin retros, remembering the old days.
